Volunteers muck in to bring Halesowen Skate Park back to former glory
1:53pm Wednesday 17th March 2010

VOLUNTEERS rolled up their sleeves to breath new life into Halesowen Skate Park in Highfields.
Overgrown and vandalised the skate park was a shadow of its former self so the community has banded together to bring it back to its former glory.
Taking the lead was the Zion Christian Centre who organised a clean up day on Saturday.
Janet Whitehead, director of Community Outreach, Zion Christian Centre, said: “The skate park was in a shocking state after vandalism and we wanted to something about it.
“Since the New Year we have been gathering some momentum towards getting the skate park up and running involving the council, local PCSO’s, the skaters, other young people as well as some ‘manual labourers’ from the church.”
“So we spoke to the youngsters who used the park and decided to spend the day down there and really have a go and clean it up.”
She added: “The brambles needed to be cut back, rubbish cleaned up, the ramps painted and lots of man hours put in to clean the place up and we are delighted how many people said they would help us.”
