2:54pm Thursday 9th September 2010
TWO men were arrested and an uninsured van was seized during a police operation in Cradley.
A 25-year-old man was arrested for driving while disqualified and later charged for driving without a licence and without insurance.
A second man was arrested for possession of a Class B drug and was given a caution.
Police were conducting a route operation checking number plates in Park Road yesterday.
The Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) operation links in with Operation Krupa aimed at reducing the amount of stolen property that gets sold on through second hand retailers across the borough and Operation Kryptonite set up to tackle metal thefts in the area.
Police Constable Matt Nightingale said; “The ANPR operation we conducted along Park Road was very successful.”
A scrap metal wagon was also seized as the driver only held a provisional licence and had no insurance.
In addition, fixed penalty fines were given to five motorists for not wearing a seatbelt, to 12 motorists for using their mobile phone while driving and to four for incorrectly displayed number plates.
Eight motorists were also made to take off their window tints.
