10:28am Wednesday 22nd February 2012

NORDIC walking is fast becoming the coolest way to keep-fit in Halesowen whatever the temperature.
Over 100 people are take advantage of guided bracing walks across the Leasowes as well as the growing numbers attending the free Nordic-walking classes on Monday evenings.
Dudley Council’s Walk Fit programme is succeeding in getting local people to exercise in the great outdoors.
Councillor David Stanley, cabinet member for environment and culture, said: “Our walk fit programme offers a wide range of free walking, jogging and keep fit sessions with something on offer for all ages and abilities.
”Dudley is working its way towards being a healthy borough and we are delighted that so many people are joining in with our fantastic walking classes.”
Volunteer walk leaders who have been trained by Dudley Council run the popular walking session every Monday morning at the Leasowes.
Enthusiastic walk leaders guide participants around the historic landscape in groups and all ages and abilities are welcome.
The Nordic-walking classes take place at the Leasowes on Mondays at 5.30pm. Other free sessions available with Walk Fit include lap walking, circular walks and guided rambles all across the borough.
