STOURBRIDGE Chess Club have clinched the Division Two championship of the Wolverhampton and District Chess League.
With one match left to play they are three points clear of nearest rivals Rushall, who have already completed their fixtures.
The team went through the season undefeated, winning nine and drawing one of their ten league games.
Team captain John Foxall put in an excellent performance with seven wins out of eight, while board one player Jeremy Fallowfield scored a near perfect six and a half out of seven.
Further success could be on the way as the team is through to the final of knockout trophy, the Pittaway Cup.
The Stourbridge second team also plays in Division Two. However they look set to be relegated.
The chess club meets at Stourbridge Institute on Wednesday evenings.
